Congratulations to Vincent and Helena Sagart, whose gorgeous Kalorama project was recently published in the annual Home & Design Sourcebook. Their cutting-edge showroom on the 5th floor features some pretty amazing cabinet and closet systems, so it’s really cool to see them working “in real life.”
Here, they used cabinet systems to replace traditional walls in this master suite:
NOW watch as the panels are pulled back:
… Truly a closet that would make Carrie Bradshaw drool! Not only does this corporate executive own an exquisite collection of handbags,
shoes and jewelry,
But the cabinetry that surrounds this room also includes niches for the owner’s important glass sculptures:
The above view leads from the left of the master suite back into the dressing/bathing area, a visually stimulating journey from dark to light.
Check out this detail of the glass and its luminosity:
Here is Vincent’s lovely description of this space:
“The finishes and textures of the bedroom, dark wood and leather, morph into high gloss white glass surfaces of the dressing room, bathrooms and hallway. Devoid of embellishment, unified in attention to detail, the cabinetry becomes one with the space, emphasizing the colors and shapes of the art displayed.
“The contemporary cabinetry is an integral part of the architecture itself. The dressing rooms, wardrobes, and bathrooms are a perfect example of the relationship between spaces – art, light, fashion, and media are what defines the atmosphere. Fluid, simple spaces borrow from each other, dramatic yet balanced.”
Here’s a parting image, once again, of the owner’s shoe collection. If we can’t all be lucky enough to have one ourselves, at least we can live vicariously through hers!
